Creative Video Editor
Job Description:
Creative Director / Video Editor
Company: HeyOz
Location: Remote (Global)
Type: Full-time (open to contract for exceptional candidates)
About HeyOz
We're a consumer AI studio that knows how to build products people love.
Our first product revolutionized the AI companion space, scaling to 6 million+ users and earning recognition from TechCrunch as "the future" in 2023. We were the first AI companion to perform system tasks, read screens, and play games with users — pioneering multi-lingual, multi-modal AI agents that could see, hear, talk, and exist across devices and even AR/VR.
But here's what we learned: even with millions of users and groundbreaking tech, distribution remains the hardest problem.
We built HeyOz because we've lived through the pain of being builders who had to become marketers. Now we're using that experience to solve distribution for every builder out there. HeyOz is an AI-powered ads creation platform where users can create static ads, AI UGC, carousels, long-form b-roll videos, and more.
The Role
We're looking for someone who can make video ads that look great and actually perform.
You'll be creating video content for HeyOz as well as for our agency clients. This means short-form ads for TikTok, Reels, and Meta, plus longer content like tutorials and explainers. You'll work from scripts provided by our team, but you're expected to have a strong creative eye — if a script isn't working, we want you to flag it and suggest improvements.
This is a hands-on role. You'll be editing, doing motion graphics, and using AI tools to speed up production and push creative boundaries. We're not looking for someone who just executes — we want someone who elevates everything they touch.
What you'll own:
- Video editing — Cutting, pacing, transitions, sound design. You take raw footage, AI-generated content, or screen recordings and turn them into polished ads that hold attention.
- Motion graphics — Kinetic text, animated elements, visual effects. You don't need to be a full-blown motion designer, but you should be comfortable making things move.
- AI-assisted production — You're fluent with AI tools for video generation (Runway, Pika, Kling, etc.) and image generation (MidJourney, etc.). You use these to work faster and create things that wouldn't be possible otherwise.
- Creative direction — You'll work from scripts, but you're not just a pair of hands. You understand what makes an ad work — hooks, pacing, visual storytelling — and you push back when something could be better.
- Multi-format output — Short-form ads, long-form tutorials, explainers, b-roll content. You can adapt your style to what each format needs.
What We're Looking For
- Strong video editing skills. You're fast, you have good taste, and your work looks professional. Tools don't matter — Premiere, After Effects, DaVinci, CapCut, whatever you use to get results.
- Motion graphics ability. You can animate text, create transitions, and add visual polish. You don't need to be a specialist, but this shouldn't be a stretch for you.
- AI tools proficiency. You actively use AI for video and image generation. You know how to prompt well and integrate AI outputs into your workflow seamlessly.
- Creative eye. You understand what makes content engaging — especially in the context of ads. You can look at a script and know if it's going to work visually before you start editing.
- Experience with performance content is a plus. If you've made ads that actually drove results (not just looked good), that's a strong signal. Show us the work and tell us what happened.
- High output, high quality. This is a fast-paced environment with high output expectations. We need someone who can produce volume without sacrificing craft.
- Self-directed. You'll get briefs and scripts, but you won't get micromanaged. You need to own your work, manage your time, and deliver without hand-holding.
Nice to Have
- Experience creating ads for performance marketing (Meta, TikTok, YouTube)
- Background in agency or startup environments where speed matters
- You've built workflows or templates to speed up production
- Familiarity with what's trending in short-form content right now
Compensation
Competitive, based on experience and engagement type. Cash compensation.
How to Apply
Send us:
- A brief intro — who you are and why this role interests you
- Your portfolio or reel — show us your best video work, especially ads or short-form content
- An example of something you've made using AI tools (video or image generation)
- Optionally: an ad you've made that actually performed, with context on results
Keep it concise.
