Job Description:

Full Stack Developer

Company: HeyOz
Location: Remote (Global)
Type: Full-time

About HeyOz

We're a consumer AI studio that knows how to build products people love.

Our first product revolutionized the AI companion space, scaling to 6 million+ users and earning recognition from TechCrunch as "the future" in 2023. We were the first AI companion to perform system tasks, read screens, and play games with users — pioneering multi-lingual, multi-modal AI agents that could see, hear, talk, and exist across devices and even AR/VR.

But here's what we learned: even with millions of users and groundbreaking tech, distribution remains the hardest problem.

We built HeyOz because we've lived through the pain of being builders who had to become marketers. Now we're using that experience to solve distribution for every builder out there. HeyOz is an AI-powered ads creation platform where users can create static ads, AI UGC, carousels, long-form b-roll videos, and more.

The Role

We're looking for a developer who wants to build, not just ship tickets.

You'll be joining a small team working on a product that's growing fast. That means you'll be building new features, improving existing systems, and making architectural decisions that matter. We need someone who thinks about the why behind what they're building — not just how to get it done.

What you'll work on:

  • Frontend and backend development — We run Next.js and TypeScript on the frontend, Node.js and Hono on the backend. You should be comfortable across the stack.
  • System design and architecture — You'll work on a microservices architecture and make decisions about how systems talk to each other. Strong fundamentals matter here.
  • DevOps and infrastructure — We're on AWS. You'll be involved in deployments, monitoring, and keeping things running smoothly. This isn't a "throw it over the wall to ops" environment.
  • Product thinking — Features exist to move metrics. You'll be expected to understand what we're trying to achieve and make tradeoffs accordingly, not just build what's specced.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong with Next.js and TypeScript — This is the core of our frontend. You should know it well, not just be passable.
  • Backend experience with Node.js — Hono experience is a plus, but solid Node fundamentals are what matter.
  • Solid system design principles — You can think about scale, data flow, and how services should be structured. You've built systems that didn't fall over.
  • AWS and DevOps experience — You've deployed and managed production infrastructure. You know your way around AWS services and aren't scared of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Microservices experience — You've worked in a microservices environment and understand the tradeoffs.
  • Product-minded — You ask "what problem are we solving?" before "how do I build this?" You care about outcomes, not just outputs.
  • You genuinely enjoy building. This is a fast-paced environment with high expectations. We work hard — that means longer hours and six-day weeks when needed. We're looking for someone who finds that energizing, not draining. If you're the kind of person who codes on weekends because you want to, you'll fit right in.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working on content creation tools, video products, or AI-powered applications
  • You've been at an early-stage startup before and know what that pace feels like
  • You've built systems that handled real scale

Compensation

Competitive, based on experience. Cash compensation.

How to Apply

Send us:

  1. A brief intro — who you are and why this role interests you
  2. A quick overview of something you've built that you're proud of — what it was, what decisions you made, and what you learned
  3. Links to GitHub, portfolio, or anything else that shows how you work

Keep it concise. We read everything.
